HIV/AIDS Mainstreaming in IPMS Pilot Learning Woredas
HIV/AIDS is a crosscutting issue in the IPMS project. Understanding of the HIV/AIDS context in each Pilot Learning Woredas and identifying opportunities to reduce the risk of HIV infection within the context of market led agricultural development initiatives a number of activities has been underway since the project inception phase. To guide the efforts at all levels, HIV/AIDS Strategy was designed in November 2004. The major areas of engagement include the following:
1. Raise awareness and increase understanding about HIV/AIDS
2. Reduce the risk of exposure to HIV/AIDS
3. Reduce vulnerability to the impacts of AIDS
4. Create new partnerships and linkages for implementation
